From making an appointment to finding ‘the one’, here are the answers to some questions you may have about finding your perfect wedding dress at The Wedding House Derby.
Do I need an appointment to try on wedding dresses?
Yes, we are by appointment only if you would like to try on dresses, although if you would like to pop in and have a look first you are more than welcome, but please bare in mind that Saturdays are incredibly busy and we may not have a consultant free on those days to chat when you pop in. By booking an appointment, we can ensure that one of our consultants is available to spend time with you. You will also be guaranteed a private fitting room with seating for your guests. How long will my appointment last?
Our bridal and bridesmaids appointments are 1 hour and 30 minutes. This means you will have plenty of time to browse through our wedding dresses, choose some beautiful gowns to try on, narrow down your selection and find ‘the one!' We never want you to feel rushed, so you will always have a full 1 hour and 30 minutes for your appointment and if you feel you need more time we can book you in for a second appointment..
What is the price range of your dresses?
Our wedding dresses are priced from around £1,500 to around £4500. We will work with you to ensure you are comfortable with the price range of gowns selected and all our gowns are clearly labelled with the price.
What underwear should I wear?
Ideally we would say wear nude coloured underwear but this is not essential. Our gowns have good support so it is recommended to not wear a bra at all during your appointment as they can alter the way the dresses fit. Of course if you feel more comfortable wearing one please do. We have robes available for you in the fitting rooms, which you can wear in between trying on dresses.
Who should I bring with me?
Finding your gown should be a special and memorable experience, shared with those you are closest to. Most of our brides bring between one to three guests. We would love for you to bring whoever’s opinions you value and trust the most. We have adequate seating available for up to three or four guests. We will not limit you on who you bring along but remember that it can become confusing if you have too many opinions. We want you to feel confident and gorgeous when you stand in front of the mirror in one of our wedding dresses not like you are facing a judging panel! We believe everyone should experience the unforgettable joy of finding their dream dress with the people they love the most but the decision to say yes is yours and yours alone.
Which designers do you stock?
We are proud to have some of the best designers in the bridal industry available here at The Wedding House. We have wedding dresses from world-renowned designers such as Martina Liana by Essense, Jane Hill, Chosen by Kyha, Abella, Allure Couture, Monreal and Herve Moreau.
How long do wedding dresses take to arrive once they’ve been ordered?
Once you have found your dream dress it will be made especially for you as our dresses don't sit waiting in a warehouse. It generally takes around six to nine months for a dress to arrive but can take longer or be quicker depending on the time of year and demand, so please bear this in mind when scheduling your appointment. We would also recommend that you leave at least two to three months for alterations. If your wedding is approaching sooner than this please don’t worry. We’d love for you to give us a call so we can discuss various rush-delivery options in more detail.
Can I take photographs?
Yes we are happy for you to take photographs during your appointment.
Are alterations included in the cost of the dress?
Alterations will be an additional charge direct with your seamstress. We work with fabulous independent seamstresses who you will need to contact separately. Almost all wedding dresses will require some alterations to get the perfect fit.
