2018 Bridal Trends
This year we attended the biggest ever bridal super-show at London Excel and were lucky enough to catch the latest bridal trends for the upcoming collections. We are SO excited about the fabulous new designs that we have rounded-up six of our favourite new trends for our brides to look out for!
Our brides are often surprised to hear that there are no white dresses in the boutique! Although ivory is the traditional choice, we have seen a rise in the popularity of subtle colour in wedding dresses, with champagne and blush becoming the recent colours of choice! Although blush still features heavily, the brides are getting braver with powder blues and soft greys seen all over the catwalk this year!
Capes and Overskirts
Why have one dress when you could have two?! We are noticing a huge rise in wedding dresses with optional extras! Can’t decide between A-line and fit-and-flare? Unsure about that super long train? No problem! With designers like Studio by St Patrick, Martina Liana and Ian Stuart leading the way, the choice has never been easier – overskirts allow you to create TWO silhouettes in one dress, while capes give you the drama of a super long train with the option to simply remove it later.
Ever popular, floral motifs, embroidery and 3D details can be soft and pretty or bold and stand out. This season we will see pastel colours used to add extra depth to some already stunning floral textures. On all silhouettes, from bodice to train, these beautiful floral details add texture and romance to some seriously beautiful wedding dresses. Look out for the latest Martina Liana collection coming soon to The Wedding House!
Ballgowns are huge this season (and when we say huge, we mean HUGE)! We have seen some serious volume, with super long trains and so. much. sparkle! From traditional to contemporary, tulle to mikado, lace to plain and everything in between… ballgowns are back!
The reverse of dresses are as pretty and detailed as ever! Stylish embroidery, keyholes, opulent lace and racer-backs add impact to simple styles or extra flair to more dramatic gowns. We have seen some incredible examples from all of our designers here at The Wedding House! Expect to see plenty more in upcoming seasons!
Last but by no means least, one of our favourite bridal trends is all-over sparkle. We’re talking head-to-toe everything, everywhere – sequins, bead-work, the full works! After all, if you have one day to truly shine then you may as well shine as brightly as possible! This season, the sparkle is in huge ballgown skirts or on fitted geometric or vintage gowns, with a nod to art deco and Hollywood Glamour.
